During this class we designed a product tailor built for a local community partner. In a group of 5 Olin and Babson students, we collaborated to build a custom made organizational solution over our Fall semester.
During this class we designed a product tailor built for a local community partner. In a group of 5 Olin and Babson students, we collaborated to build a custom made organizational solution over our Fall semester.
First we started off with getting to know our community member on a personal level. This allowed us to identify potential areas where we could develop a solution.
We used various design tools to build direction for the development of our product. Through prototyping and collaborative design we were able to refine our vision with every prototype.
We settled on a design that emphasized both tasks to be done and joys in life to be taken.
In between these two steps we went through various iterations, finally arriving at our pilot design. This would be tested for a week at our community member's home.
We used magnetic mini whiteboards to write down the tasks and joys to be done for the week, created a magnetic weekly organizer, and a matching storage box for the markers and boards.
After that week we would refine our product further with improved aesthetics more aligned to our user and better build quality.
